Where we invest

Voltan’s origins are in frontier markets, the highest growth countries among the world’s emerging economies.

Beginning with the Asian tigers and China in the 1980s, followed by Latin America in the 1990s, frontier markets have proven their ability to grow into mature economies with ample opportunity for investors. Many frontier markets of today are on a similar journey to their emerging market peers, drawing investors who see possibilities where others see pitfalls.

Yet investing in these burgeoning markets requires a unique skill set. The ability to predict and manage operational risk specific to frontier countries only comes from long experience. Voltan has successfully managed multi-asset portfolios and direct investments in the world’s most challenging countries for over two decades.

The firm’s interlinking foci - frontier countries and frontier industries - came about organically. Supply chain diversification, trade finance innovation, carbon market adoption and other global exigencies rely on collaboration between developing and developed worlds. Voltan bridges the gap between cutting-edge industries and regions eager for progress.

Today’s frontier markets are powerhouses of global growth and innovation. Voltan is a first-mover in these dynamic markets, with the skill set and decades of experience necessary to translate early opportunities into profitable investments.
